Our client is a leading Qatari Holding Group with diversified global business interests within the Hospitality, Real Estate, Industrial, Investment Management and Financial Services sectors. This Group is currently undergoing major business transformation change introduced to support corporate governance objectives, business growth and to bring the group to a world standard. Our client seeks to recruit a Senior Architect (as client’s representative) to provide overall design concepts and design management on the firm’s VVIP residential project.
Reporting to the Chairman and managing 5 direct reports, this role is responsible, as the client’s representative, for the following:
- Lead and manage a team of Architects / Engineers to complete and deliver architectural design to meet concept, program and budget of the firm’s projects. Lead and co- collaborate during the pre-design and design stage including creative concept, scopes of work, material selection and specification, furniture selection, design project timeline, estimated costs and design development phases.
- Oversight of various design stages from preparation of detailed construction documents as the project scope would require. Lead design review, project management and construction management of architecture and Interior works.
- Review and approve work to maintain quality assurance and compliance with contractual obligations and international design guidelines.
- Assist in creative design and fit out fabrication to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Prepare and review project schedules, monitor progress, complete projects on schedule and assure that ID drawings and shop drawings cover all required project details.
- Select in-budget materials and finishes that support the concepts to incorporate the latest technology and operational needs.
- Value engineering to identify cost savings including to prepare alternative solutions by different methods in design development, find alternative finishing materials and equipment costs, coordinate with other sectors as HVAC, lighting, and electrical for higher performing system and low cost in maintenance over the building's life span.
- Control project from start to finish to achieve high quality and functional design to meet client requirements.
- Conduct frequent site visits to assess project status, project work quality and workmanship in compliance with approved design deliverables and approved construction documents.
- Conduct quality checks on works carried out to ensure they match the approved shop drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Track project progress and material delivery status for long lead items ensuring timely delivery to site to minimise project delays.
The attributes we seek for this role comprise:
- Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering or comparable is essential with a Master’s Degree being highly regarded.
- Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in architectural design and design management with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as the client’s representative.
- Understand and promote sustainable design philosophies and current trends throughout the profession including planning and strategies design and space planning.
- Understand design software technology and delivery methods within the company expectations.
- Extensive professional architectural experience specialized in planning design and management of residential and villa projects of various sizes and types.
- Excellent portfolio of previous works showcasing the production of timely high quality efficient and functional designs.
- Candidates must be fluent in English with Arabic language skills being desirable.
