The Umpqua Valley Farm to School Summer Education Assistant will assist educators and schools with implementing curricula and programming consistent with the mission and values of UVF2S. The Education Assistant will work closely with the Education Coordinator to choose activities and lessons that are age and ability appropriate and will carry out those activities and lessons in school and organizational settings. The Education Assistant will also help UVF2S at events and special programs when needed.
Member Duties : Coordinating, planning, and carrying out garden based summer camps at elementary schools throughout Douglas County. Working with partner organizations, farms, and schools to fulfill the DC Produce Project summer CSA program alongside elementary schools where summer camps occur. Attend farmers’ market events to promote UVF2S to the community including cooking demos and garden demos. Recruit volunteers to assist with events and camps throughout the summer. Assisting in the maintenance school gardens as needed. Implement and/or develop systems to inform Effective Volunteer Management Practices (EVMPs). Complete and submit all necessary UCA paperwork and reports in a timely manner. Attend and complete all UCA training and service requirements including orientation, trainings, team events, and our June Service Event.
